Warriors Sweep GPAC Runner of the Week Awards

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced its Cross Country Runners of the Week for October 14-20, 2024. Midland University swept this week's awards with Lucas Hjortkjaer and Danika Leuenberger winning the men's and women's honors, respectively

Hjortkjaer, a sophomore from Hvalso, Denmark, placed 25th at the Platte River Rumble on Friday. Running into a 20mph wind through one-third of the race, he posted a time of 27:11 to lead Midland to a 5th-place finish.

Leuenberger, a freshman from Granger, Iowa, placed 56th at the Platte River Rumble on Friday. Having to contend with a 20mph wind through roughly one-third of the race, she turned in a time of 26:35.
