Hugo Lukacovic
Hugo Lukacovic, a junior from Brezno Slovakia, played a pivotal part in the Midland's 8-1 win over the University of Jamestown on Saturday. After failing to beat the Jimmies each of the past 14 tries, including an overtime loss on Friday, the Warriors had a 4-0 lead deep into the second period until the Jimmies were able to cut into the deficit with just five seconds left in the period, sparking a potential third-period comeback. Lukacovic had other plans, scoring two goals and assisting another as the Warriors asserted their dominance to earn their first win over Jamestown since December 2022.
Vanessa Rice
Vanessa Rice, a sophomore from Alpine Texas, placed well amongst her competition at the Dordt Open on Saturday. In the triple jump, Rice placed first with a mark of 10.52 meters, just 0.22 meters off her season-best mark of 10.74, which she set in December. She also earned sixth place in the long jump with a leap of 4.79 meters.
