Warriors Begin Season at Strong Husker Event

LINCOLN, Neb. – Midland University opened up its powerlifting season over the weekend at the Strong Husker Powerlifting competition down in Lincoln. They had five individual champions as they competed against lifters from both Concordia University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Warriors won the team title over the Bulldogs and Huskers.

Winners for Midland included Brylee Ross, Lily Falcone, KayD Leal, Jozannah Rodriguez, and Karson Oliver.

  • Ross won the 44kg division with a total of 172.5kg.
    • Squat – 57.5kg
    • Bench – 30kg
    • Deadlift – 85kg
  • Falcone won the 48kg division with a total of 307.5kg.
    • Squat – 115kg
    • Bench – 57.5kg
    • Deadlift – 135kg
  • Leal won the 52kg division with a total of 310kg.
    • Squat – 112.5kg
    • Bench – 70kg
    • Deadlift – 127.5kg
  • Rodriguez won the 60kg division with a total of 340kg.
    • Squat – 125kg
    • Bench – 80kg
    • Deadlift – 135kg
  • Oliver won the 100+kg division with a total of 435kg.
    • Squat – 192.5kg
    • Bench – 85kg
    • Deadlift – 157.5kg

Niquela Vallejos was the runner-up at 52kg with a total of 282.5kg. Trayn Brunet placed second in the 60kg division with a total of 302.5kg. Kaitlin Tagle was the runner-up at 82.5kg with a total of 350kg. At 100+kg, Jiselle Olivarez was second with a total of 430kg while Angelina Calzada (392.5kg) was 4th and Aerianna Segura (390kg) was 5th.

Midland will be back in action on November 18-19 when they host the Central Collegiate Regional Championships. The event will be held on Saturday and Sunday inside Hopkins Arena in Fremont.
