Warriors Compete at Wildcat Classic

WAYNE, Neb. – The Midland University women's track and field team turned in an impressive performance at the Wildcat Indoor Classic in Wayne, Nebraska, this weekend, with several athletes earning top finishes across a range of events.

In the sprints, the Warriors had a strong presence in the 60 meters. Emma Strom finished third in 8.07 seconds, while Neenah Guerrero matched her time to place fourth. Aurora Griffin followed closely behind in fifth at 8.15 seconds, and Rianna Greene finished 10th with a time of 8.37.

Guerrero continued to shine in the 200 meters, claiming first place with a time of 26.40. Greene took seventh in 27.14, and Dala Drowne rounded out the top 10 in 27.21.

In the 400 meters, Nevaeh Sarabia secured a third-place finish with a time of 1:04.86, while she also dominated the 600 meters, claiming first place in 1:41.10. Carly Carstens added a fifth-place finish in the 600 meters at 1:54.05 and took third in the 1000 meters with a time of 3:33.07.

Joy Jepkorir posted solid results in the distance events, finishing seventh in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:51.28 and placing ninth in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:41.42.

Kerrigan Myers was one of the top performers of the day, earning first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58. In the high jump, Myers cleared 1.60m to finish fourth (by judge's decision), while teammate Hannah Newton matched her jump to take first place. Krista Hardy placed fifth in the high jump at 1.55m, and Dala Drowne finished seventh at 1.50m.

In the long jump, Myers placed second with a mark of 5.32m, Guerrero took fourth with a jump of 5.01m, Strom finished sixth at 4.85m, and Vanessa Rice placed eighth with a jump of 4.75m. Farrah Wilson rounded out the top 10 in 10th with a leap of 4.44m.

The Warriors also showed dominance in the triple jump. Rice earned first place with a jump of 10.36m, followed by Madelynn Dougherty in third at 9.75m and Wilson in fourth at 9.66m.

In the weight throw, Sara Diew finished 10th with a mark of 14.91m and is now ranked seventh on the Midland all-time leaderboard.

The Warriors will look to fine-tune their events in the coming week ahead of the 2025 Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The championship meet will be held on February 14-15 in Mitchell, South Dakota.
