Warriors Yield Strong Performances at Concordia Classic

SEWARD, Neb. – Midland University turned in a strong showing at the 2025 Concordia Classic, earning multiple top-10 performances in both track and field events over the weekend.

Kerrigan Myers delivered one of the standout performances of the meet, taking second place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.68 seconds, achieving an NAIA "B" standard. Myers also competed in the high jump, finishing 10th with a clearance of 1.55 meters (judge's decision).

In the sprints, Neenah Guerrero led the Warriors in the 200 meters, placing fourth with a time of 26.86 seconds. Vanessa Rice also broke into the top 10, finishing eighth in 27.09 seconds. Guerrero added another top-10 finish in the long jump, taking 10th with a mark of 5.03 meters.

Nevaeh Sarabia earned a ninth-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.55, while Madison Bergstrom impressed in the 5,000 meters, finishing fourth in 20:49.09.

Midland's high jumpers had a strong day, with Krista Hardy and Hannah Newton tying for fourth place with clearances of 1.60 meters. Hardy won the tiebreaker based on the judge's decision.

In the throwing events, Maggie Heesch posted two top-six finishes. She placed fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 16.35 meters and sixth in the shot put with a throw of 12.69 meters.

Midland will return to action next weekend with a pair of meets on the schedule. The Warriors will send athletes to the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kansas, on Friday and Saturday and to the DWU Alumni Meet on Saturday in Mitchell, South Dakota.
