
Warriors Shine at Graduate Classic and Mount Marty Invite
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University delivered strong performances this weekend, competing at the 2025 Graduate Classic, hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, and the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, South Dakota. The Warriors earned several top-10 finishes and a standout victory over the two-day stretch.
At the Graduate Classic, Kerrigan Myers had a notable showing in the 60-meter hurdles. She advanced to the finals with a seventh-place finish in the preliminaries, running 8.72 seconds. Myers improved to sixth in the finals with a time of 8.79 seconds, meeting the NAIA "B" standard. She also competed in the long jump, where she placed 10th with a leap of 5.35 meters.
In Yankton, the Warriors excelled at the Mount Marty Invitational, highlighted by Hannah Newton's first-place finish in the high jump. Newton cleared 1.65 meters to win the event, while Krista Hardy took third place with a jump of 1.60 meters. In the 60-meter dash, Emma Strom advanced to the finals and finished seventh with a time of 8.16 seconds. Neenah Guerrero also had a productive meet, placing 10th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.24 seconds and adding a 10th-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.11 seconds.
In the distance events, Magdalena De La O and Madison Bergstrom paced the Warriors in the 3,000 meters. De La O finished seventh with a time of 12:16.15, while Bergstrom followed closely in eighth at 12:14.84. Nevaeh Sarabia added a sixth-place finish in the 600 meters, running 1:44.20.
The field events saw additional success for Midland. Guerrero placed sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.09 meters, and Madison Jones finished fifth in the pole vault with a clearance of 2.30 meters. Maggie Heesch excelled in the throws, finishing third in the shot put with a mark of 12.68 meters and taking second in the weight throw with a toss of 16.22 meters. Shyanne Pipkin also contributed with a fourth-place finish in the pentathlon, accumulating 2,151 points.
Next up for the Warriors is the Concordia Classic, set for Saturday, January 25. Midland will compete alongside several schools from the region inside the Walz Fieldhouse on the campus of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
