
Warriors Wrap Up Regular Season at Last Chance Meet
YANKTON, S.D. – Midland University took to the track and field at the Mount Marty Last Chance meet on Friday, February 9. The Warriors had several standout performances across various events as they looked to improve their marks for the postseason.
In the 60m dash, Neenah Guerrero secured a 3rd place finish with an impressive time of 8.03. Guerrero also showcased her versatility, claiming the 9th spot in the long jump with a distance of 4.69m.
Emma Strom exhibited her skills in the 200m race, clinching a 6th place finish clocking in at 27.43. Additionally, Strom impressed in the long jump, securing the 4th spot with a leap covering 5.05m.
Kerrigan Myers dominated the 60m hurdles, taking home the top spot with a swift time of 8.62. Myers also placed 8th in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.50m.
Madyson Ray showcased her athleticism, securing the 7th spot in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.00. During prelims, she ran a new season best of 9.93. Later on, Ray claimed 6th in the long jump with a distance of 4.89m.
In other field events, Krista Hardy soared to victory in the high jump, reaching a height of 1.60m. Maggie Heesch showcased her strength, claiming the runner-up spot in the shot put with a toss of 13.62m and won the weight throw with a heave covering 17.03m. Her toss in the shot put set a new season best and reached the NAIA A standard.
Emmalee Bartak contributed to the team's success with a 9th-place finish in the shot put, achieving a throw of 9.76m. Nevaeh Sarabia demonstrated her endurance in the 600m with a 3rd place time of 1:40.59.
In the 1000m race, Myia Johnson ran a tough race while earning a 4th place finish with a time of 3:16.84.
Midland will now turn its attention to the upcoming 2024 GPAC Indoor Championships, scheduled to take place on February 16 and 17 back inside the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse in Yankton, South Dakota.
