Warriors Excel at DWU Alumni Meet

MITCHELL, S.D. – Midland University delivered an impressive performance at the DWU Alumni Meet in Mitchell, South Dakota on Saturday, with standout performances across various events.

Maggie Heesch had a solid day in the field for the Warriors, claiming victory in the weight throw with a commanding toss of 16.31m, and a runner-up spot in the shot put with a season-best toss of 13.36m.

In the long jump, the Warriors showcased their prowess, securing three spots in the top five. Madyson Ray claimed 3rd place with a jump of 5.31m, while Emma Strom followed closely in 4th with a jump of 5.15m. Neenah Guerrero rounded out the trio, securing 5th place with a jump of 5.02m.

The high jump featured a strong showing by Krista Hardy, who tied for 2nd place with a clearing of 1.57m. Kerrigan Myers secured the 8th spot with a height of 1.47m while Shyanne Pipkin claimed 10th at the same height.

In the pole vault, Madison Jones cleared 2.27m, earning her a respectable 10th place.

Myers and Ray both advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles. In the finals, Myers secured victory with a time of 8.54, while Ray claimed the 5th spot with a time of 10.03.

The duo of Guerrero and Strom turned in the top times of the 60m prelims, and they continued their success in the final, finishing 1-2. Guerrero secured the top spot with a sprint of 7.99, while Strom closely followed with a time of 8.07.

Myia Johnson delivered a solid performance in the 1-mile run, securing 5th with a season-best time of 5:29.28.

Nevaeh Sarabia and Ray both showcased their speed in the 400m race, with Ray claiming 6th in 1:04.57, and Sarabia finishing 5th with a time of 1:03.49.

Guerrero continued to impress in the 200m, securing 4th with a time of 26.85.

Up next for Midland will be the Mount Marty Last Chance meet in one week. Several Warriors will look to improve their times or marks before the start of the postseason.
