
Warriors Compete at SDSU NAIA Preview
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Midland University continued its indoor track and field season this weekend as it competed in the D2/NAIA Open hosted by South Dakota State University at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. The Warriors secured a commendable 8th place out of 15 teams with a team score of 40.4.
In the shot put, Maggie Heesch demonstrated her skill, claiming 4th place with a throw of 12.69m. Heesch continued her impressive performance in the weight throw, securing a runner-up finish with a toss of 16.73m.
The long jump saw Kerrigan Myers in 6th place with a distance of 5.18m, while Emma Strom closely followed in 7th place with a jump of 5.15m. Krista Hardy and Shyanne Pipkin showcased their prowess in the high jump, tying for 5th place with heights of 1.60m.
In the 60m hurdles, Myers excelled, securing a 2nd place finish with a time of 8.55. Myia Johnson displayed her speed in the 1000m race, claiming 5th place with a time of 3:12.06.
Looking ahead, the Warriors are gearing up for the Dakota Wesleyan University Alumni Meet scheduled for Saturday, February 3, in Mitchell, South Dakota. Midland University's track and field team will undoubtedly aim to build on their success in the upcoming competition.
