Warriors Open Spring Semester at Northwest Open

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Midland University returned to the track and field on Saturday as it competed in the Coach Alsup Open hosted by Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri. The Warriors' track and field team showcased their skill inside Hughes Fieldhouse, securing nine top 10 placings.

Kerrigan Myers emerged as a standout athlete, claiming victory in the 60-meter hurdles with an impressive time of 8.52. Notably, Myers also secured the 8th position in the 60-meter race, clocking in at 7.99. Myers' performance in the 60m prelims, where her time of 7.88 ranks 3rd in Midland program history. The versatile athlete also excelled in the 200m, posting a time of 26.53, which now stands as the 4th fastest in school history.

In the distance events, Myia Johnson exhibited her tenacity, securing 5th place in the 1000m with a time of 3:11.78 and claiming the 10th spot in the one-mile race with a time of 5:41.27.

The high jump saw Krista Hardy and Shyanne Pipkin making their mark. Hardy cleared a height of 1.57m for an 8th-place finish while Pipkin reached 1.52m to secure 10th place.

Neenah Guerrero showcased her talent in the long jump with a 4th-place finish. She had a best of 5.18m on her third attempt of the day.

Maggie Heesch demonstrated excellence in the throwing events, claiming 2nd place in the weight throw with a distance of 17.08m. In the shot put, she claimed the 7th position with a throw of 12.60m. Notably, her weight throw result now stands as the third-best in program history and meets the NAIA 'A' Standard.

Looking ahead, Midland is set to participate in the NAIA Preview next weekend in Brookings, South Dakota, with events scheduled for Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27, inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
