
Warriors Excel at Early Bird Invitational
SEWARD, Neb. – Midland University had an impressive performance at the Concordia Early Bird Invitational, its final meet of the fall semester. The Warriors secured 15 top-ten finishes and achieved three NAIA A-Standards during the two-day meet in Seward, Nebraska.
In the 60m race, Emma Strom claimed the 3rd position with a time of 7.99, while Neenah Guerrero secured 5th place with a time of 8.02. Guerrero continued to showcase her speed in the 200m, finishing 7th at 26.77, closely followed by Strom in 9th place with a time of 27.09.
Nevaeh Sarabia earned a respectable 4th place finish in the 600m with a time of 1:40.21. Kerrigan Myers dominated the 60m hurdles, securing 1st place with a time of 8.49, meeting the NAIA A-Standard for the second-straight meet.
In the high jump event, Krista Hardy leaped to a 4th-place finish, reaching a height of 1.60m. Strom and Guerrero continued their impressive performances in the long jump, with Strom claiming the 6th position with a jump of 5.27m, and Guerrero securing the 10th spot with a leap of 5.10m.
The throwing events saw Maggie Heesch secure a 5th-place finish in the shot put, recording a distance of 12.67m. In the weight throw, Heesch excelled, claiming the 3rd position with a throw of 16.97m, meeting the NAIA A-Standard. Madalyn Kelsey achieved the 8th place in the shot put with a distance of 12.35m and the 9th place in the weight throw with a mark of 14.80m.
Kerrigan Myers continued her outstanding performance in the pentathlon, securing the top spot with an impressive point total of 3254, reaching the NAIA A-Standard. Madyson Ray finished 9th in the pentathlon with 2756 points.
Through the first two meets, Myers' time in the 60m hurdles (8.49) and point total in the pentathlon (3254) are both tops in program history. She also ranks 2nd in the long jump (5.54m). Other Warriors to join or improve upon their place in the all-time top ten placings are:

Looking ahead, Midland University's track and field team is gearing up for the Graduate Classic on January 12-13 in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the Mount Marty Open in Yankton, South Dakota, scheduled for January 13. The Warriors are poised to build on their success and make their mark in the upcoming competitions.
