
Warriors Shine at KCAC Championships
HOBART, Ind. – Midland University traveled to Hobart, Indiana, over the weekend to compete in the KCAC Championships. The three-day event, which started Thursday and ended Saturday, saw the Warriors finish sixth as a team and place in the top five in seven events.
On the first day of the meet, Mya Nemechek earned fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.59. She then competed in the 400-yard medley relay with Dominique Cos, Sophia Gurrieri, and Quinty Rouschop. The Warriors finished third in the relay with a time of 4:04.72, 11 seconds behind second place and 12 seconds behind first. Rahel Sims closed out Thursday with a third-place finish in the 1-meter diving event, scoring 159.9, just 3.85 points behind second place.
On Friday, Rouschop earned fourth in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:51.08. Cos also finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, recording a time of 1:07.65. Nemechek added a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.77.
Saturday, Cos secured the Warriors' final top-five finish of the weekend with a second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. She finished with a time of 2:25.85, just 0.54 seconds behind first place.
Midland will now begin preparations for the 2025 NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships, scheduled for March 5-8 at the Elkhart Aquatic Center in Elkhart, Indiana.
