
Warriors Host Home Invitational to Close Fall Semester
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University wrapped up its fall semester by hosting the Warrior Invitational, a three-day, 20-event meet at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center in Fremont. The Warriors secured two first-place finishes and ended the meet in sixth place overall. Western Colorado dominated the competition, winning 15 of the 20 events and earning 11 silver medals.
Mya Nemechek delivered an outstanding performance for the Warriors, claiming both of the team's gold medals. She finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.66 seconds, edging out second place by 0.43 seconds. Nemechek also took the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke, winning by 0.71 seconds with a time of 58.54 seconds.
In addition to her victories, Nemechek placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and contributed to the Warriors' fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
Quinty Rouschop was Midland's second-highest point scorer. She earned a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley, along with sixth-place finishes in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 200-yard breaststroke.
Rachel Sims added to the team's success with a fifth-place finish in the 1-meter diving event, earning 162.35 points.
Midland will return to the pool after the break, hosting Iowa Central in an exhibition meet on January 18 at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center. The Warriors' second semester officially gets underway a week later when they travel to compete in a dual meet against Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa on January 25.
