William Jewell’s Depth Powers Past Warriors
FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University was back in the pool for the second time this weekend as it faced William Jewell College on Saturday afternoon at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center, falling to the Cardinals 188-52. William Jewell's depth in the pool propelled them to the win, though several Warriors delivered standout performances.
Mya Nemechek led Midland with a pair of individual victories, finishing first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.07 and later claiming the 200-yard backstroke in 2:10.93. Payton Tull also had a notable finish, securing runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle at 25.42.
The Warriors posted strong showings in the relay events as well. The team of Tull, Quinty Rouschop, Sophia Gurrieri, and Nemechek took second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.02. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Nemechek, Tull, Rouschop, and Lilli Heaston earned another runner-up finish.
Midland will now turn its focus to training before its next event, the Warrior Invitational, scheduled for December 5-7. The meet will follow a championship format, with preliminaries at 9:00 a.m. each morning and finals at 5:00 p.m.
