Warriors Sweep GPAC Weekly Awards

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced this week's women's soccer players of the week for contests played October 23-29, 2023. Hanna Schimmer and Caytlynn Garland of Midland University were selected as the GPAC Offensive and GPAC Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Schimmer, a sophomore from Council Bluffs, scored four goals and assisted on three others in the final week of the regular season. Thanks in part to her poise on the attack, Midland won twice and secured the third seed in next week's GPAC Tournament. For the season, her first as a Warrior, she has 14 goals with 5 assists.

Garland, a freshman from Gillette, Wyoming, helped the Warriors to a pair of shutouts this past week at Briar Cliff (2-0) and against Mount Marty (10-0). In addition to her stellar play in the backline, she was able to score her first two collegiate goals in the regular-season finale on Saturday. For the year, she has been a part of eight shutouts including the last three contests.
