HASTINGS, Neb. – Midland University traveled to take on Hastings College in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup on Wednesday Night. The Warriors challenged the No. 24-ranked Broncos the entire night but fell short, 1-0.
Hastings was able to get the deciding goal on the sheet early, scoring in the 28th minute of the contest. Tough defense over the next hour preserved the shutout win and three points toward the conference standings.
Hastings held a slight edge in shot attempts on the night, 8-6, with three of its attempts on frame. The Broncos had a large advantage in corner kicks, 4-0 over the Warriors.
Kyla Pires earned her second start of the season in net for MU. She played the full 90 minutes, collecting three saves on the night.
Midland (6-4-2, 3-2-1 GPAC) will return home to take on Northwestern (4-8,2-5 GPAC) in a conference matchup this weekend. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 at Heedum Field in Fremont.
