CSM hands (RV) Warriors First Conference Loss

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University hosted the College of Saint Mary in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup on Saturday evening. The Flames handed the Warriors their first conference loss of the season with an early goal, winning 1-0 on the turf at Heedum Field. With the result, Midland falls to 6-3-2 overall and to 3-1-1 in the GPAC.

The Flames got the only spark on the night as they broke through with a goal in the 33rd minute. The lone goal of the first half was enough to get the precious three points as they played solid defense for nearly an hour of match time.

Midland had a handful of chances and held a slight lead in shots with nine for the match. Six of the Warriors' attempts were on frame while the Flames only had two on target.

Hannah Tillison collected a save on the night in 90 minutes of work.

With the win, CSM holds even with Concordia as the two schools lead the conference standings with 13 points. Midland is a step back with 10 points alongside their next opponent, Hastings.

The Warriors (6-3-2, 3-1-1 GPAC) will head out to Hastings, Nebraska to face off against the Broncos (7-1-1, 3-1-1 GPAC) next week. The teams will meet up on Wednesday, October 4 for a GPAC duel starting at 8:00 p.m. at Lloyd Wilson Field.
