No. 8 Missouri Baptist Shuts Out Warriors

ST. LOUIS – On the final day of its road trip, Midland University took the field against No. 8-ranked Missouri Baptist University at Spartan Field. The Warriors were held scoreless as the Spartans picked up a 29-0 victory in Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) play.

Missouri Baptist jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first five minutes and added six more goals before the end of the opening quarter. Leading 11-0, the Spartans kept the pressure on in the second, scoring five more goals to take a commanding 16-0 lead into halftime.

Out of the break, the offensive onslaught continued with six goals in the third quarter. The final frame saw the Spartans add seven more goals to cap off the one-sided win.

MBU held a lopsided 54-4 advantage in shots, including 43 on target. Midland had three shots on frame, all coming from Chloe Harrison.

Kyla Pires recorded a season-high 14 saves over 60 minutes of action.

Midland (0-8, 0-7 HAAC) will look to bounce back next week in its home finale against Mount Mercy (0-7, 0-6 HAAC). The Warriors and Mustangs will take the turf at Heedum Field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, in Fremont. Last season, Midland won the first-ever meeting between the two programs, 16-13.
