Warriors Fall to Culver-Stockton in Rescheduled Matchup

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University hosted Culver-Stockton College on Thursday afternoon at Heedum Field after the game was rescheduled from Saturday due to last week's snowstorm. The Warriors fell behind early and couldn't recover as the Wildcats left Fremont with an 18-4 victory.

Culver-Stockton struck quickly, taking the lead just 23 seconds into the game before adding three more goals to build a 4-0 advantage with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. Midland's Macie Bock responded with a goal to cut the deficit to 4-1, but the Wildcats closed the quarter with another goal to lead 5-1.

Midland held Culver-Stockton scoreless for the first four minutes of the second quarter before the Wildcats broke through, scoring six goals in a five-minute span to extend their lead to 11-1. The Warriors continued to battle, as Caitlin Bowers found the back of the net. However, Culver-Stockton added another goal before halftime, sending Midland into the locker room trailing 12-2.

The Wildcats maintained their offensive momentum in the third quarter, netting three more goals to go up 15-2. As the quarter wound down, the Warriors capitalized on a man-up opportunity when Samantha Jayne took a pass from Ryland Nelson and fired a shot into the net, making it 15-3 heading into the final period.

Midland struck first in the fourth quarter with a goal from Chloe Harrison, but Culver-Stockton answered with three more goals to seal the 18-4 win.

The Warriors scored on 40% of their shots but struggled to create opportunities, recording just 10 total attempts, seven of which were on target. Meanwhile, the Wildcats fired 27 shots, with 22 on goal. Kyla Pires made her lacrosse debut in goal, finishing with four saves in 60 minutes of action for Midland.

Midland (0-5, 0-4 HAAC) will return to action on Saturday, March 29, when it hosts Missouri Valley (3-7, 1-4 HAAC) at 1 p.m. in Fremont.
