FREMONT, Neb. – On an overcast and blustery day, Midland University hosted St. Ambrose University for a women's lacrosse contest on the turf at Heedum Field. The Warriors trailed the Bees by a goal after the first quarter, but an 8-0 scoring outburst in the second put the game out of reach as the visitors came away the win, 16-4 on Friday afternoon. The loss snapped Midland's two-game winning streak.
St. Ambrose was led in scoring by Anabelle Brown. The attacker led her team with five goals on the day. Jayden Ambrose and Lauren Hoesly added three goals each for the victors. Midland was led offensively by Madilynn Edwards. She had two goals and an assist.
Saige Carlton picked up the win in goal for the Bees as she recorded 6 saves off 10 shots. Midland's Kayla Bailey took the loss. She had 11 saves off 27 St. Ambrose attempts.
The Bees won the ground ball battle on the day 49 to 35. Turnovers were an issue for Midland, as the Warriors committed 36, compared to the Bees' 21.
Midland (3-6, 1-1 KCAC) will look to bounce on Friday, March 29 when it hosts No. 6 Missouri Baptist (7-1, 0-0 KCAC) in conference action. Competition is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Heedum Field in Fremont.
