Warriors Battle Tough Field at Hoosier Classic

INDIANAPOLIS – Midland University was back on the road over the weekend, competing in the 56th annual Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis. The tournament featured bowlers from 66 different teams, with each team playing 25 individual games before combining those scores with 15 Baker games. The top eight teams advanced to the final bracket.

The Warriors finished 40th overall with a total score of 7,158, consisting of an individual total of 4,238 and a Baker total of 2,920.

Individually, Kayleigh McKenzie was Midland's top performer, averaging 191.2 over five games for a total of 956. She bowled two games over 200, including a high of 226 in her final game.

Ashland Hoyt followed closely, finishing with a total of 909 and an average of 181.8 per game. Bailee Spriggs averaged 165.2, tallying a total of 826, while Hannah Bowling posted a total of 804 with a 160.8 average.

Kaylee Taylor rounded out the Warriors' lineup, finishing with a total of 743 and an average of 148.6. Midland's combined individual total for the event was 4,238.

In Baker play, the Warriors topped 200 six times, with a high of 227 in their 11th game, finishing with a Baker average of 194.66. Their Baker total of 2,920 contributed to their final score of 7,158.

Midland will return to action at the KCAC Championships on Feb. 22-23 in Sioux City, Iowa.
