
Warriors Battle at Warhawk Open
ADDISON, Ill. – Midland University returned to action over the weekend, competing in the Warhawk Open hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Facing 18 other teams, the Warriors totaled 6,841 pins during qualifying, finishing 12th. The top eight teams advanced to match play. Saint Xavier, which qualified second, ran the table in match play, defeating Calumet in the championship to claim the tournament title.
Out of 167 bowlers, Rachel Moore of Culver-Stockton College emerged as the individual champion, averaging 227.8 and knocking down 1,139 pins across five games.
Ashland Hoyt was Midland's top performer, finishing 28th with an average of 182.6 and a total of 913 pins. After a slow start, Hoyt closed with two games over 200.
Emily Ziegler followed closely, placing 31st with a total of 890 pins and an average of 178. Ziegler was consistent throughout the tournament, avoiding games under 150 and posting three games in the 190s.
Kayleigh McKenzie placed 51st with a total of 812 pins and an average of 162.4, while Bailee Spriggs finished 85th. Spriggs totaled 686 pins over four games, averaging 171.5.
Rounding out the Warrior lineup, Hannah Bowling competed in three games, averaging 153.67 for a total of 461 pins.
Midland will return to the lanes in Las Vegas, Nevada, competing in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on December 18-19, followed by the Collegiate Shoot-Out on December 20-21.
