Warriors Place Sixth at Bronco Open

HASTINGS, Neb. – Midland University returned to competition this weekend, traveling to Hastings, Nebraska, for the Bronco Open on Saturday and Sunday. The team placed sixth out of eleven in qualifying, with a total score of 4,345—just 114 pins short of advancing to bracket play. Peru State College secured the fourth and final spot for match play with a score of 4,459, while Hastings College claimed the top qualifying position with 4,592.

Senior Ashland Hoyt led Midland individually, finishing fourth overall with an impressive average of 203.2 per game. Her consistent performance, bowling above 180 in all five games, earned her a spot on the all-tournament team. Hoyt's highest score came in her final game, where she bowled a 225, bringing her total to 1,016.

Emily Ziegler and Kayleigh McKenzie also bowled five games each. Ziegler averaged 170.2 with a total score of 851, including an opening game of 225, although she wasn't able to replicate that score in the subsequent games. McKenzie finished with an average of 164.4 and a total score of 822, highlighted by a 202 in her second game.

Leia Miller and Bailee Spriggs each bowled three games. Miller averaged 171, scoring a total of 513, while Spriggs averaged 174.7 with a total of 524, capped off by a 211 in her last game.

Kaylee Taylor and Hannah Bowling each competed in two games. Taylor averaged 155 with a total of 310, and Bowling averaged 154.5 for a total score of 309.

Midland will return to the lanes from November 22-24 at the NAIABCA Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.
