
Season Opens for Warriors at Midwest Collegiate
WAUWATOSA, Wis. – Midland University began its 2024-25 women's bowling season over the weekend in Wisconsin at the 2024 Midwest Collegiate Championships. The Warriors were one of 42 teams to compete in the weekend competition, finishing 23rd with a combined score of 7191.
Individually, the Warriors' top finisher was Kayleigh McKenzie who finished in 47th place out of 267 and bowled an average of 189.4 through five games for a total score of 947. McKenzie got off to a good start with her first game being her highest of the five when she bowled a 243.
Ashland Hoyt finished in 78th place, averaging 180.8, for a total score of 904, breaking over 200 in her first two games. Emily Ziegler finished in 92nd with an average of 176 while Bailee Spriggs finished in 116th place with an average of 167.6.
Rounding out the Midland lineup was Leia Miller who bowled four games and finished 163rd with an average of 158 and Hannah Bowling who finished 249th after bowling one game with a score of 159.
The team event was won by Mount Mercy University with an overall total of 8581, beating the second-place finisher by 607 pins. Savannah Rodriguez of Calumet College of St. Joseph won the individual title with an average of 224.6 in five games.
The Warriors will be back in action on October 19-20 as they travel to Wichita, Kansas to compete in the Mid-States Championships.
