Warriors Compete at Leatherneck Classic

MOLINE, Ill. – Midland University finished in the middle of the pack at the Leatherneck Classic on Saturday and Sunday at Highland Park Bowl. The Warriors' women finished 17th out of 34 teams, finishing with a pinfall total of 6835. Mount Mercy University finished first in qualifying with a total of 7727 while Calumet College won the bracket division, defeating Mount Mercy in the championship.

Individually, Victoria Cruz Cervantes led the Warriors, finishing 39th out of 270 bowlers. She recorded a five-game total of 895, good for a 179 average, with her highest game topping out at 193. Ashland Hoyt bowled a four-game average of 183.25. Jerika Koopmeiners averaged 165.5 over four games. Samantha Creutz bowled four games and averaged 162.75. Emily Ziegler averaged 151 over four games. Kaylee Bergstrom rolled a three-game average of 140.33. Leia Miller bowled one game, good for a 165.

In the first NAIA National Rankings, the Midland women are ranked No. 24 with an RPI of 0.5117. SCAD-Savannah is ranked No. 1 with a rating of 0.6560.

The Midland women return to action Saturday and Sunday, November 18-19 at the NAIA Invitational. The two-day event will take place at Joliet Town and Country Lanes, in Joliet, Illinois.
