Colton Horne took the mat for Midland at 174 pounds. The senior battled but suffered a loss via fall to Cale Davis at 3:47. In the 184-pound bout, Treyton Tweton lost to Dayton Fraser of York by fall at 5:45. With two bouts remaining, York held a commanding 38-5 lead.

Two Warrior seniors recorded victories in the final two matches of the evening. At 197 pounds, 10th-ranked Burton Brandt defeated Tanner Hawkins by fall at 4:41. Then, at 285 pounds, Remington Gay earned a win by fall over Malaki Morales-Perez at 1:34, making the final score 38-17.

Warriors head coach Doyle Trout reflected on his senior class. "I appreciate those guys for what they do—not only for themselves but for how they set an example for our underclassmen. Emotionally, I'll miss them and am so happy for their contributions to Midland."

Trout also commented on the Warriors' three victories. "I'm so happy for Zion. He's always on the mat, and his dedication to improving showed tonight. Although Colton took a loss, how he responds as a senior will be key. Burton was a little rough after being off the mat since November, but his experience showed. Remington's performance in front of his family and friends, who live just down the road, was special with his victory."

After taking Thursday off, Midland will return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Missouri Valley Open. "I'm excited for the meet. It's like a mini-national tournament. This will certainly let us know where we stand as a team among some of the best at our level."

Competition inside the Burns Athletic Complex in Marshall, Missouri, will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
