
Warriors Compete in First GPAC Day of Duals
SEWARD, Neb. — (RV) Midland University joined others from around the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) on Tuesday for the GPAC Duals #1 inside Friedrich Arena in Seward, Nebraska. The Warriors dropped both of their matchups, falling to Briar Cliff University (46-6) and Waldorf University (36-17).
Briar Cliff 46, Midland 6
At 125 pounds, Kayden Mueller lost by fall to No. 21 Dante Rigal at 1:16. Midland forfeited at 133 and 141 pounds, giving Briar Cliff's Dariuz Black and Ayden Kelley wins by default, making the score 18-0.
At 149 pounds, Tyler Fouts defeated Midland's Zion Amerson by technical fall, 18-1, at 5:44. The Chargers extended their lead to 23-0. Tyren Schaefer (157 pounds) lost to Brandon Harris by technical fall, 21-1, at 5:32, while Logan Millikan (165 pounds) was defeated by Jackson Balmer, 15-0, at 3:20. After six matches, Briar Cliff led 33-0.
In the 174-pound bout, Francisco Duran lost by fall to Erik Lessears at 4:45. Midland's lone victory in the dual came at 184 pounds, where Colton Horne pinned Jeremiah Bethel in 2:39. With two matches remaining, Briar Cliff led 39-6.
At 197 pounds, Collin Stone lost by major decision to Nathan Adras, 11-2. The final match of the dual featured No. 22 Zeph Sivels, who fell to No. 16 Alton Allen in a 3-2 tiebreaker. Briar Cliff claimed the dual, 46-6.
Waldorf 36, Midland 17
At 125 pounds, Kayden Mueller fell to Zachary Southern by fall at 3:30. The Warriors forfeited at 133 pounds, giving Malachi Aispuro the win. After two matches, Waldorf led 12-0.
Midland also forfeited at 141 pounds, allowing Shiwoko Shiwoko to win by default. At 149 pounds, Zion Amerson lost by major decision to No. 20 Tyler Okada, 10-1. Waldorf held a 22-0 lead after four matches.
Francisco Duran (157 pounds) battled but lost to Dalton Thorson by decision, 7-3. At 165 pounds, Preston Ray pinned Tyren Schaefer at 2:39, extending Waldorf's lead to 31-0.
In the 174-pound bout, Logan Millikan lost by technical fall to Daven Hames, 18-3, at 7:00. Midland's Colton Horne improved to 2-0 on the day, winning by technical fall over Nehemiah Pemberton, 15-0, at 1:55. With two matches left, Waldorf led 36-5.
Waldorf forfeited the final two matches, giving victories to Collin Stone (197 pounds) and No. 22 Zeph Sivels (285 pounds), resulting in a final score of 36-17.
Midland (0-5, 0-4 GPAC) will return to conference action at the GPAC Day of Duals #2 on February 8 in Mitchell, South Dakota. The Warriors' next competition is the Conner/Oppenheim Open on Saturday, December 7, hosted by Doane University. Wrestling begins at 9:00 a.m. inside Fuhrer Fieldhouse in Crete, Neb.
