Benedictine Hands (RV) Warriors Dual Defeat
ATCHISON, Kan. – Benedictine College defeated (RV) Midland University, 39-9, in a non-conference wrestling dual on Thursday night inside Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. The Warriors earned three bout victories but were unable to negate three open weight classes in the competition.
All four of Benedictine's wins earned bonus points, leading to the victory. At 125 pounds, Midland's Kayden Mueller lost by technical fall, 20-4, to Calvin Miller. The Warriors were open at 133 pounds, putting Benedictine ahead 11-0.
Trev Arlt took to the mat at 141 pounds but fell by technical fall, 19-3, to Coulter Rieschick. The Warriors picked up their first bout victory of the night at 149 pounds when Zion Amerson jumped out to an early lead over Daniel Lantz and held on for a 9-8 win. The result put Midland on the scoreboard four matches in, trailing 16-3.
At 157 pounds, Tyren Schaefer faced off against Kaleb Jestes. The Raven's grappler won by technical fall, 17-0. At 165 pounds, Logan Millikan was pinned by Christion Griggs in the second period. After six matches, Benedictine led 27-3.
Midland was open at 174 pounds. The Warriors earned their second victory of the night at 184 pounds, where Treyton Tweton secured a hard-fought 17-10 decision over Jackson Perkins. After eight bouts, Benedictine led 33-6.
The Warriors were open at 197 pounds. In the final bout of the night, No. 22-ranked Zeph Sivels recorded a 6-2 victory over Mason Harris.
Midland will return to the mat on Saturday, November 23, at the Younes Hospitality Open. Competition at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds in Kearney, Nebraska is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
