Bio
Tim Anderson has served as Midland University’s powerlifting coach since the program’s inception in 2016. During his tenure, Anderson has coached the Warriors men’s and women’s programs to eleven national titles and has produced 54 individual champions.
Anderson’s men’s program has won the USA Powerlifting Men’s Raw Collegiate National Title four consecutive times dating back to the 2018 season. The women’s program is three-time defending champions of the USA Powerlifting Women's Raw Collegiate National Title dating back to 2019.
In 2019, Anderson was named the USA Powerlifting Coach of the Year. USA Powerlifting presents this honor annually to a coach that demonstrates selfless dedication to the association and its athletes.
Anderson came to Midland with a world-class resume already established. Anderson led the USA World Bench Press Team to 12 team awards from 2012-17. As a coach, he was responsible for competition strategy, team selection, overseas travel, and training for competitors. Anderson has also earned his USA Powerlifting Senior International coaching certification.
As a respected remember of the powerlifting community, Anderson serves as a USA Powerlifting National Referee, was the USA Powerlifting Nebraska State Chairman for two years, and has been a USA Powerlifting Meet Director for more than 20 USA Powerlifting-sanctioned meets, including three national events.
Anderson also has 30+ years of experience as a competitor, including 12 years as a member of the USA Bench Press Team where he gained extensive experience in specialized competition benching, training, techniques, and the use of powerlifting gear. Anderson won the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) Masters World Cup in four straight years from 2013-16, was the 2008 IPF Open World bench Champion and was the USA Powerlifting National Champion 10 times from 2006-18. He also holds the IPF Masters and Open World Bench records and holds multiple American records. His career-best bench press is 695 pounds.
