
Warriors Compete at Central Nebraska Challenge
KEARNEY, Neb. – Midland University competed in the Central Nebraska Challenge on Friday, turning in several strong performances, including a first-place finish and an NAIA qualifying mark.
Robert Atwater highlighted the meet for the Warriors, winning the long jump with a leap of 7.71 meters. He also placed third in the triple jump at 14.30 meters and took fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.09 meters, meeting the NAIA "A" Standard.
In other field events, Jonah Martinez placed ninth in the javelin with a throw of 43.83 meters, while Josiah Meyer followed in 10th at 42.90 meters. Khalil Thorps-Watt secured ninth in the long jump (6.73m) and seventh in the triple jump (13.31m). Kenya Ford finished sixth in the triple jump (13.46m), and Garrett Guindon placed 10th (13.07m).
On the track, Midland's 4x100-meter relay team of Noah Sherman, Kenya Ford, Chris Medlock, and Aiden Mountain finished sixth with a time of 42.37 seconds.
In the sprints, Chris Medlock competed in the 400 meters, placing 10th with a time of 5.42 seconds.
Mid-distance events saw Lucas Hjortkjaer take fifth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.58, while Henri Stoeckermann followed closely in sixth at 1:56.44.
Midland also had three top-10 finishes in the 5,000 meters, with Kenicious Limo placing second in 15:54.85, Jonathan Mahoney taking fourth at 16:55.21, and Kelvin Korir finishing sixth in 17:53.24.
The Warriors will return to action next week at the Friends Spring Open on Thursday through Saturday down in Wichita, Kansas.
