Bio

Matt Maltby has served as a Midland University assistant track & field coach since 2003 as a throwing coach.

In his time at Midland, Malty has coached numerous All-Conference performers, including XX Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Champions. He has had 24 athletes receive NAIA All-America honors and has coached Dylan Kucera to 4 individual national titles in the shot put (2020 indoor, 2021 indoor, 2022 indoor, and 2022 outdoor).

Following the 2018-19 season, Coach Maltby earned the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Assistant Coach of the Year Award. In that season, he presided over the NAIA’s No. 1-ranked Hammer Throw group, No. 2-ranked Shot Put group, and No. 2-ranked Discus group.

Maltby attended Dana College where he was a two-sport athlete in football and track & field. He qualified for nationals seven times in the shot put and was a three-time NAIA All-American.

Maltby graduated from Dana College in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management.
