
Atwater Earns Second National Weekly Honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced its men's indoor track and field athletes of the week for performances during the week of February 10-16. Robert Atwater of Midland University was named the NAIA Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, while Davien Worrels of Southeastern University earned track honors.
Atwater, a senior from Detroit, Michigan, was named the Outstanding Athlete of the Meet after scoring 44 points at the GPAC Championships. He won the high jump, long jump, and heptathlon while finishing as the runner-up in the pole vault and third in the triple jump. He had three NAIA A Standards and one NAIA B Standard at the meet. In addition to leading the NAIA in the heptathlon, he has qualified for all four jumps at the national championships. He ranks 1st in the high jump (2.15m), 1st in the long jump (7.51m), 7th in the pole vault (4.85m), and 13th in the triple jump (14.57m) nationally.
