
Warriors Compete in Pair of Meets over the Weekend
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University delivered strong performances over the weekend, competing at the 2025 Graduate Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, South Dakota.
At the Graduate Classic, the Warriors had multiple top-10 finishes and set a new school record. Shandon Reitzell placed seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.02 seconds, while Lucas Hjortkjaer finished eighth in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:55.17. The 4x400-meter relay team of Noah Sherman, Kenya Ford, Chris Medlock, and Shandon Reitzell set a new Midland record with a fourth-place finish in 3:20.48. Robert Atwater excelled in the field events, clearing 2.03 meters in the high jump to finish sixth and meet the NAIA "B" Standard. He also placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 7.13 meters, hitting another NAIA "B" Standard.
At the Mount Marty Invitational, the Warriors showcased their depth with more top finishes. In the 60-meter dash, JJ McQueen advanced to the finals and placed seventh with a time of 7.12 seconds. Raheem Richards took eighth in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 22.87 seconds. In the distance events, Jonathan Mahoney earned a runner-up finish in the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:02.55, while Kelvin Korir came in seventh at 9:26.51. Garrett Guindon secured second place in the triple jump with a leap of 13.28 meters, and Nate Osness had a solid showing in the shot put, placing eighth with a throw of 13.39 meters.
Next up for the Warriors is the Concordia Classic, set for Saturday, January 25. Midland will compete alongside several schools from the region inside the Walz Fieldhouse on the campus of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska.
