
Warriors Rally Back in Singles; Defeat Grand View
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University returned to action on Friday afternoon, hosting Grand View University in a non-conference dual at the Fremont YMCA. The Vikings took two of the three doubles matches to gain an early lead, but the Warriors battled back with four wins in singles play to secure a 4-1 walk-off victory.
Midland's No. 1 doubles duo, Benjamin Starman and Joren Stevens, earned a dominant 6-1 victory over Enzo Naveda Canessa and Diego Castillo.
In singles play, Stevens claimed the No. 1 matchup, defeating Naveda Canessa in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6. Starman followed with a win at No. 2, taking down Pierre De Buretel de Chassey, 6-0, 7-6.
At No. 3, Daniel Liebig earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Lars Kruger. Andrew Hammer sealed the win for Midland at No. 4, edging out Castillo in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4.
Midland (1-1) will return to action next week, traveling to face Kansas Wesleyan (1-0) on Friday, February 28, in Salina, Kansas.
