Warriors Dominate Pool at Simpson Meet

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Midland University returned to the pool on Saturday, competing in a meet against Simpson College and Iowa Western Community College. The Warriors dominated the event, earning first place in all but one race, securing victories in 13 events while setting a new school record.

In the relays, Reece Gray, Radek Ruzicka, Jeremi Aubin, and Nacho Molina teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:36.56. William Hansen, Martin Sener, Brody Feist, and Nicolas Ruth captured gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall in 1:26.59.

Artur Arent, Zander Livingston, and Jeremi Aubin each won multiple individual events. Arent claimed first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:54.53 and set a new school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 9:50.43—over two minutes ahead of the runner-up in the event. Aubin won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.29 and followed up with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:54.91. Livingston topped the podium in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.34) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:59.88).

Six other Midland swimmers earned individual victories, including a tie between teammates in the 50-yard freestyle. Feist, already part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay, and Ruth both touched the wall at 21.95 seconds to share the gold.

Molina won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.34. The remaining victories came in the 100-yard races of various strokes. Sener claimed the backstroke title with a time of 53.93, Ruzicka won the breaststroke in 58.71 seconds, and Hansen finished first in the butterfly at 53.48.

Up next, the Warriors will compete at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) Championships, set for February 13-15 in Hobart, Indiana.
