Warriors Conclude Semester with Home Invitational

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University wrapped up the semester by hosting the Warrior Invitational, a three-day swim and dive event at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center. The Warriors recorded three first-place finishes, eight second-place finishes, and six third-place finishes to secure second place overall, trailing St. Ambrose, which won 16 of 20 events.

Midland claimed its first gold medal of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Nacho Molina, William Hansen, Brody Feist, and Nicolas Ruth combined for a time of 1:24.59, finishing three seconds ahead of second-place Adams State. The Warriors also earned silver medals in four other relays: the 200-yard medley, 400-yard medley, 400-yard freestyle, and 800-yard freestyle.

Artur Arent secured Midland's first individual gold medal, winning the 1,650-yard freestyle by nearly 30 seconds with a time of 16:35.89. Mohamed Saleh and Konrad Kozlowski finished second and third, respectively, completing a podium sweep for the Warriors in the event.

Arent also earned a bronze medal in the 400-yard individual medley and contributed to a second-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Zander Livingston captured Midland's final gold medal of the meet, winning the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:03.50, finishing nearly two seconds ahead of the runner-up. He also secured a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and contributed to silver medal performances in the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays.

Although he did not win any individual events, Jeremi Aubin was the top point scorer for Midland and finished second overall. Aubin earned four silver medals and one bronze. He placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.17) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:53.68) and helped the Warriors to second-place finishes in the 400-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays. Aubin's bronze medal came in the 100-yard butterfly, where he finished with a time of 51.45, two seconds behind the winner.

Midland will return to the pool after the break, hosting Iowa Central in an exhibition meet on January 18 at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center. The Warriors' second semester officially gets underway a week later when they travel to compete in a dual meet against Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa on January 25.
