
Warriors Dominate Pool at Spire Relays
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Midland University returned to the water on Saturday, competing in the University of Saint Mary's Relay Challenge, an event consisting entirely of relay races. The Warriors dominated the competition, earning first place among three schools and winning 11 of the 12 races.
Midland finished with 202 points, ahead of the University of Saint Mary, which earned 162 points, while Dordt University finished with 26 points.
The Warriors won both 100-yard relays, completing the freestyle in 41.54 seconds and the medley in 46.24 seconds.
Midland also claimed victories in both 200-yard races: the freestyle relay, which they completed in 1:30.21, and the mixed medley relay, where two men and two women from Midland's teams competed together, finishing with a time of 1:46.79.
The Warriors swept all three 3x100-yard relays, winning the butterfly in 2:43.22, the backstroke in 2:49.58, and the breaststroke in 3:04.36.
In the 400-yard events, Midland won both the freestyle relay with a time of 3:19.09 and the medley relay with a time of 3:41.03.
The only race the Warriors did not win was the 4x100 IM relay, where they finished 1.74 seconds behind Saint Mary's.
Midland also won the 500-yard crescendo relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay with times of 4:29.05 and 7:24.18, respectively.
The Warriors excelled in long-distance events as well, winning the 3x500-yard (1500 free) relay by 44.18 seconds, finishing with a time of 15:13.96.
