Warriors Open Season with Win at Home Invite

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University opened its season with an impressive showing at the GPAC Invite on Saturday. The Warriors finished first among the three teams, earning wins in 12 of the 14 events and garnering 695 points. Morningside University had 449.5 points for second while Dordt University placed third with 237.5 in its first-ever swim meet.

Individually, Zander Livingston won two events with the Warriors winning a total of 10 individual men's events. The Warriors swept the relay events winning the men's 200-yard medley relays as well as the men's 400-yard freestyle relay. Livingston won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.65 seconds and the 100-yard IM with a time of 55.17 seconds.

Midland won four of its 50-yard events with Kareem Salah winning the breaststroke in 27.87 seconds, Brody Feist winning the backstroke in 26.60 seconds, Nacho Molina winning the freestyle in 22.24 seconds, and Radek Ruzicka winning the butterfly in 24.1 seconds.

The Warriors won a pair of additional 100-yard events as William Hansen won the butterfly in 54.08 seconds and Martin Sener won in the backstroke with a time of 53.64 seconds.

In the longer distance races, the Warriors were able to test their stamina Mohamed Selah completed the 500-yard freestyle in 5.03.22 for first while Artur Arent won the men's 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10.14.30 minutes.

Midland will be back in the pool inside the Dillon Family Aquatic Center next Saturday as it hosts a quadrangular meet with the University of Nebraska-Omaha, the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and Rockhurst University coming to Fremont. Swimming is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. on October 5 in Fremont.
