Sjoeberg Adds Third GPAC Weekly Defensive Honor

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced its Men's Soccer Players of the Week for contests played October 14-20, 2024. Midland University's Hugo Sjoeberg was selected as the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week while Martin Herrera of Concordia University was selected for offensive honors.

It is the third weekly honor for Sjoeberg, a sophomore from Kiel, Germany, who picked up two wins this week in goal for the Warriors as they made their way into a tie atop the GPAC standings. On Wednesday, he had seven saves as Midland earned its first regular season win at Hastings since 2013. On Saturday, he followed up that gutsy performance with a shutout win at Dakota Wesleyan. This season, he leads the conference in saves (81) and is second in save percentage (.771).
