FOREST CITY, Iowa – Midland University returned to the pitch on Saturday, traveling to Forest City, Iowa, for a non-conference matchup against Waldorf University. The Warriors' attack was firing on all cylinders, scoring six goals in each half to secure a dominant 12-0 victory.
"We needed to get a win and build confidence," said head coach Josh Nakayama. "It was a good result, and I'm happy with our performance."
Seven different players contributed to the scoring, with Ruben Pernia opening the floodgates just 56 seconds into the game, assisted by Matheus Nascimento.
Waldorf's Harry Villegas received his second caution in the third minute, and Midland capitalized quickly. Ten minutes later, Adnan Boulaghmal netted his first of four goals. Joel Auther Bazayemekele added a third in the 30th minute, assisted by Pernia.
Midland appeared to be heading into halftime with a comfortable 3-0 lead, but a late flurry changed that. Colin Macke scored twice, assisted by Cornelius Strehl and Brayden Wright before Lucas Foreman found the back of the net in the 45th minute to make it 6-0 at the break.
Eloy Demarquet added his name to the scoresheet shortly after halftime, scoring in the 52nd minute with an assist from Patrick Long. Six minutes later, Demarquet turned provider, setting up Nacho Salmeron for an 8-0 lead.
Boulaghmal completed his four-goal haul with a trio of goals in the 65th, 66th, and 84th minutes, assisted by Wright (twice) and Macke. Demarquet capped off the scoring in the 88th minute, securing his second goal of the night and the final scoreline of 12-0.
"It was great to keep a clean sheet, too," said Nakayama. "We need to keep pushing for points in the conference."
Boulaghmal led the charge with four goals, while Demarquet and Macke each tallied two goals and an assist. Wright was a key distributor with three assists, while Salmeron and Pernia each contributed a goal and an assist. Hugo Sjoeberg played the full 90 minutes in goal, making one save to preserve the shutout.
