
Warriors Sweep Weekly GPAC Awards
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced the following Men's Soccer Players of the Week for contests played September 23-29, 2024. For the second time this season, Midland University has swept the awards with Adnan Boulaghmal and Hugo Sjoeberg earning GPAC Offensive and GPAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Boulaghmal, a sophomore from Braunschweig, Germany, scored a brace in the Warriors' win over Doane at home. On Saturday, he narrowly missed out on a game-winning goal as Midland played to a scoreless draw with Morningside. For the week, he led Midland with 8 shots (4 on goal) in 127 minutes of action.
Sjoeberg, a sophomore from Kiel, Germany, picked up a pair of wins in goal for the Warriors this week in conference play. In Midland's midweek match against Doane, he yielded the lone goal of the week while picking up a save. On Saturday, he made 10 saves to preserve a clean sheet in the scoreless draw with Morningside. This season, he has a .744 save percentage through 11 games.
This week, Midland will host No. 8-ranked Bellevue in a nonconference match on Wednesday night before returning to GPAC play on Saturday at Waldorf.
