
Warriors Fall to Benedictine in Season Finale
FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University hosted Benedictine College on Wednesday night for its final game of the season, honoring the graduating seniors from the Class of 2025. What began as a competitive matchup saw the Ravens' high-powered offense eventually pull away, handing the Warriors a 28-7 loss.
Benedictine struck first, opening the scoring at the 11:26 mark in the first quarter. Asher Thomas responded quickly with an unassisted goal just 23 seconds later to even the score at 1-1. The Ravens answered with two straight goals to reclaim a 3-1 lead. On a power play, Carson Meier found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Benedictine closed the quarter with another goal to take a 4-2 lead into the second.
The second quarter saw the Ravens seize control, netting two quick goals to set the tone. Meier responded with his second unassisted goal of the night at 10:06, but Benedictine then surged with nine unanswered goals, heading into halftime with a commanding 15-3 advantage.
After the break, the Ravens picked up where they left off, scoring three more goals to open the third quarter and extend their lead to 18-3. Meier ended Midland's scoring drought with his third goal of the night, assisted by Leland Thiel at the 7:34 mark. Benedictine answered with two more goals before Thiel added one of his own with 1:21 remaining, sending the Warriors into the final quarter trailing 20-5.
Benedictine stayed relentless, opening the fourth quarter with three straight goals to increase its lead to 23-5. Gavin Bartling continued to battle for Midland, netting an unassisted goal at 8:32. After the Ravens added two more to their tally, Thomas scored the Warriors' final goal on a power play, assisted by Bartling at 5:19. Benedictine capped off its dominant performance with three more goals, sealing the 28-7 win.
Goalie Sean Erickson played all 60 minutes for Midland and recorded 15 saves. The Ravens outshot the Warriors 72-24.
Midland concludes its season with an overall record of 2-11 and a 2-7 mark in conference play.
