
Warriors Fall to St. Ambrose in Conference Road Contest
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Midland University traveled to Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon to face off against St. Ambrose University in Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) action. The Warriors struggled to contain the Fighting Bees' offensive attack, ultimately falling by a score of 14-2.
St. Ambrose jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals at the 10:38 and 4:14 marks in the first quarter.
The Fighting Bees continued to build momentum in the second quarter, scoring two quick goals at 10:45 and 10:24 to extend their lead to 4-0. Midland got on the board when Asher Thomas found the back of the net at the 5:34 mark, ending the Warriors' scoring drought. St. Ambrose added another goal with just 44 seconds remaining in the half, taking a 5-1 lead into the break.
Coming out of halftime, St. Ambrose wasted no time adding to their lead with a goal to open the third quarter. Carson Meier responded for the Warriors with an unassisted goal at the 13:01 mark. However, the Fighting Bees answered with five straight goals to close out the period, stretching their advantage to 11-2.
St. Ambrose continued to dominate in the fourth, netting three more goals and holding Midland scoreless the rest of the way to seal the 14-2 victory.
Sean Erickson played the full game in goal for the Warriors, recording eight saves on the day.
Midland (2-10, 2-6 HAAC) will return home for their final game of the season on Senior Day as it hosts Benedictine (6-7, 5-3 HAAC). Faceoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 at Heedum Field in Fremont, Nebraska.
