Warriors Wrap up Trip with Neutral-Site Loss

UPLAND, Ind. – Midland University wrapped up its trip to Upland, Indiana, with a neutral-site, non-conference game against (RV) Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon. Despite a promising start, the Warriors suffered a tough 20-2 loss.

The Cougars struck first, but Leland Thiel quickly responded, going coast to coast after scooping the ball in the defensive zone to tie the game at 1-1. Mount Vernon Nazarene added two more goals to regain the lead. Carson Meier answered with an unassisted goal from 10 yards out, keeping it close at 3-2. The Cougars tacked on another goal before the first quarter ended, extending their lead to 4-2.

Mount Vernon Nazarene turned up the pressure in the second quarter, scoring eight unanswered goals to build a 12-2 advantage.

After halftime, the Cougars maintained their momentum, adding seven more goals in the third quarter to take a commanding 19-2 lead. They capped off the game with a final goal in the fourth while holding Midland scoreless the rest of the way, resulting in a 20-2 defeat for the Warriors.

Up next, Midland (0-4) will travel to Dubuque, Iowa, to face Clarke. The teams will square off at Burrows Field on Saturday, March 22, at 12:00 p.m.
