Warriors Fall to (RV) Ottawa
OTTAWA, Kan. – Midland University was back in action on Saturday evening as it took to the turf against (RV) Ottawa University at AdventHealth Field. The Warriors dropped the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) match to the Braves by a resounding score of 24-3.
Ottawa controlled the game from the outset as it went up 3-0 in the first seven minutes. Midland managed to put up a lone goal in the opening quarter, courtesy of an unassisted effort by Preston Davis. Ottawa closed out the first quarter with a 5-1 lead.
As the match progressed, Ottawa demonstrated its offensive firepower, particularly in the second quarter. With an impressive 11-goal surge, the Braves moved in front by a commanding 16-1 advantage at the halftime break.
Despite Midland's efforts to regroup, Ottawa maintained their dominance throughout the contest. The third quarter witnessed five additional goals for the Braves, effectively stifling any hopes of a comeback from the Warriors.
Entering the final stanza with the outcome all but decided, Midland managed to add a couple of goals to their tally. Joshua Pereira and Asher Thomas each notched unassisted goals for the Warriors, salvaging some consolation amidst Ottawa's continued offensive onslaught.
Statistically, The Braves boasted superiority across the board. They dominated face-offs, securing 23 out of 31, while also showcasing a commanding 61-19 advantage in ground balls. Additionally, their relentless offensive pressure translated into a staggering 62-8 lead in shots over the Warriors.
