Warriors Fall to No. 4 William Penn

FREMONT, Neb. – Midland University met up with No. 4-ranked William Penn University on Thursday evening at Heedum Field for a nonconference men's lacrosse game. The Warriors faced a daunting challenge from the outset as the Statesmen cruised to a 25-2 win.

William Penn started hot, notching 10 goals in the opening quarter of play. They continued their relentless offensive onslaught, adding five more goals before halftime, establishing a commanding 15-0 advantage at the break. Through the first half, William Penn dominated the shot chart, amassing a commanding 32-4 advantage.

Following the break in action, William Penn's offense maintained its momentum, quickly extending their lead with six goals in the initial seven minutes of play, further widening the gap to 21-0. Midland finally broke through William Penn's formidable defense, with Gavin Bartling scoring an unassisted goal with 8:08 remaining in the third quarter.

Despite the Warriors' efforts, they could only manage one more goal. Leland Thiel added the second and final goal with 2:08 left in the contest. The Statesmen added four goals of their own in the final period for a resounding 25-2 victory.

William Penn was able to get up 73 shots on the day while limiting Midland to just 10 shots. The Statesmen also had 64 ground balls to the Warriors' 35.

Midland (1-7, 1-0 KCAC) will look to bounce back next week when it hosts Missouri Baptist (1-9, 1-0 KCAC). The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) clash is set for a 3:00 p.m. start time on Friday, March 29 at Heedum Field.
