
Warriors Battle Tough Conditions at Verhille Invite
CAMDENTON, Mo. – Midland University traveled to Camdenton, Missouri, this week to compete in the Verhille Invitational, hosted by Mount Mercy at The Club at Old Kinderhook. The Warriors battled tough conditions, playing through 25-plus mph winds on Tuesday, and finished 11th out of 18 teams.
Ben Ngelingkong led the Warriors individually, shooting a 7-over 78 in the first round before closing with a 6-over 77 on Tuesday. He finished at 13-over 155 for the tournament, placing 25th out of 106 golfers.
Spencer Wishon wasn't far behind, carding a 9-over 80 in the opening round before improving to a 6-over 77 on Tuesday. He finished in 39th place at 15-over 157.
Billy Lyons opened with a 6-over 77 before finishing with a 10-over 81 to place 47th with a total score of 16-over 158. Trevin Cunningham followed in 53rd place at 17-over 159, posting an 8-over 79 in round one. He made three birdies in his final seven holes of round two to finish with a 9-over 80.
Rounding out the Midland golfers was Janlo Zaayman, who shot an 11-over 82 and a 17-over 88 to finish 79th at 28-over 170.
Midland will return to action at the Sand Creek Invitational on April 7-8 in Newton, Kansas.
