
Warriors Open Spring Season at Texas Invite
DALLAS – Midland University returned to competition after the winter hiatus, opening its spring season at the Texas Invitational in Dallas. The Warriors placed 10th out of 11 teams in the highly competitive two-day, 54-hole event at Gentle Creek Golf Club.
Janlo Zaayman was Midland's top individual finisher, placing 23rd out of 60 golfers with a total score of 227 (+11). He recorded four birdies in his first round, including three in a row, and finished the opening 18 holes at even-par 72. In his second round, Zaayman again carded four birdies but struggled on other holes, posting a 76 to end the day at +4. On the final day, he dropped in the rankings after shooting a 79 (+7).
Jacob Hellman was Midland's next-best finisher, placing 35th with a score of 233 (+17). He started strong with a 73 (+1) in the first round but followed with a 78 (+6) and an 82 (+10) in the final two rounds.
Billy Lyons finished 41st with a total score of 236 (+20). He opened with an 82 (+10) but improved with rounds of 77 (+5) and 77 (+5).
Cole Wilson placed 50th at 242 (+26) with scores of 79 (+7), 81 (+9), and 82 (+10).
Trevin Cunningham rounded out Midland's golfers, finishing 55th at 246 (+30). He shot rounds of 78 (+6), 84 (+12), and 84 (+12).
The Warriors will return to action at the Crestview Spring Invitational in Wichita, Kansas, on March 10-11.
