Warriors Compete at Hoosier Classic

INDIANAPOLIS – Midland University traveled to Indianapolis over the weekend to compete in the 56th annual Hoosier Classic. The tournament featured bowlers from 78 teams, each playing 25 individual games before combining scores with 15 Baker games. The top eight teams advanced to the final bracket.

The Warriors finished 19th overall, recording an individual total of 4,916 and a Baker total of 3,036 for a combined score of 7,952.

Brandon Ogden led Midland individually, bowling five games for a total of 951 and an average of 190.2. His performance was highlighted by a 223 in his fourth game, followed by a 206 in his fifth and final game.

Jack Pearson, Donald Wu, and Nate Hartje each bowled four games, finishing with totals of 814, 772, and 751, respectively. Cole Macaluso and Christopher Taliva'a bowled three games apiece. Macaluso posted a total of 625, averaging 208.33, while recording a team-high 246 in his final game. Taliva'a started with a 223 and finished with a total of 610, averaging 203.33.

Michael Saxton and Casey Upton rounded out Midland's individual games, each bowling once. Saxton recorded a 213, while Upton bowled a 180, bringing the Warriors' individual total to 4,916.

Midland averaged 202.4 in its 15 Baker games, scoring over 200 eight times, including a high of 247 in the seventh game. The Warriors finished with a Baker total of 3,036 and an overall score of 7,952.

Midland will return to action Feb. 22-23 at the KCAC Championships in Sioux City, Iowa.
