Warriors Place Ninth at Warhawk Open

ADDISON, Ill. – Over the weekend, Midland University joined 20 other schools at the Warhawk Open, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Warriors bowled well, posting a team total of 7,791 pins, but fell just short of advancing to match play, finishing ninth—one spot outside the top eight.

Fifth-seeded St. Ambrose University saved its best bowling for match play, making an impressive run by defeating the fourth seed and top seed before topping Marian University in the championship to claim the title.

Individually, Blake Walsh of Mount Marty University emerged as the overall winner out of 268 bowlers. He averaged 238.2 over five games, totaling 1,191 pins—59 pins ahead of the runner-up.

Donald Wu was Midland's top performer, finishing 13th overall. He tallied 1,057 pins across five games, averaging 211.4. Wu bowled over 200 in four games, with his best effort coming in the final game, where he recorded a 247.

Jack Pearson was Midland's next-best finisher, placing 33rd with an average of 198.8. He rolled two games over 200, including a personal event high of 224 in his second game.

Michael Saxton and Brandon Ogden finished back-to-back in 51st and 52nd, respectively. Saxton totaled 947 pins with a 189.4 average, while Ogden was close behind with 944 pins and a 188.8 average. Saxton surged in the standings with a final game of 255, overtaking Ogden by just three pins.

Rounding out the Warriors' varsity lineup, Nate Hartje averaged 176.2 over five games, with his best effort of 220 coming in his final game.

Midland returns to action later this month, traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada to compete in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational on December 18–19 and the Collegiate Shoot-Out on December 20–21.
